WE WOKE UP TO SNOW THIS MORNING

There’s About ½ An Inch On Our Back Porch 😃

We woke up to about half an inch of snow this morning, and guess what? It’s still falling as we write this! ❄️

Here’s a shot of my back porch this morning—check out that frosty blanket! While it’s no blizzard, it’s enough to have the kids excited and the town feeling like a winter wonderland.

Stay safe and warm, Boerne. And if you’re out, you’re likely to see us out walking Main Street enjoying the snow day!

FIDEO WILL KEEP YOU WARM 🍲

Compadres Hill Country Cocina Is Probably the Only Place Open

Pretty much everything is closed today, Boerne. The library, the city offices, restaurants… EXCEPT Compadres Hill Country Cocina. Last night, Chef Mark posted that he’s not scared of the cold, and he’ll be serving up their famous Fideo to keep you warm from 11 AM - 2 PM.

We got some Fideo a couple weeks ago and can confirm, it’ amazing. So this just might be your best chance to snag some (people usually drive from all over for it). Just make sure it’s safe to drive!

GET WINTER WEATHER UPDATES FROM THE CITY

Keep Up with Any Changes Throughout the Day

The City of Boerne has shared important updates and resources to help residents prepare for icy conditions and potential travel impacts. Here’s the latest:

  • Road Safety Preparations: Boerne’s Streets Department has prepped salt trucks for icy roads, while TxDOT is pretreating state highways like I-10 and Highway 46.

  • Utility and Park Winterization: Boerne Utilities has winterized water, gas, and electric lines, and Parks and Recreation is securing facilities and shutting off water to prevent pipe breaks.

  • Closures: City Hall and other offices will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21, due to the inclement weather.

  • Trash and Recycling: WM has canceled collection services for Tuesday, with service expected to resume Wednesday on a delayed schedule.

  • Warming Center: The Patrick Heath Public Library’s Community Room will be open as a warming center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday, even if the library is otherwise closed.

They’ll continue to provide updates as needed throughout the day. You can click the button to keep up.

DID YOU KNOW?

Back in 1949 on January 31, Boerne hit a record-breaking low of -4°F, marking the coldest day in our town's history. That same Arctic blast blanketed the Hill Country in snow and sent temperatures plunging across Texas.
