The City of Boerne has opened nearly 1.25 acres along Cibolo Creek next to River Road Park, giving residents and visitors a new place to fish, relax, and enjoy the outdoors.
The property was purchased by the City in 2024 as part of its effort to preserve open space along the creek. For now, the creekside portion is open to the public while the City considers what the space could become in the future.

Construction is officially underway at the future Firehouse Subs location in the former GameStop at 1375 S Main St #221, next to StretchLab. Local franchise owner William Ellis is bringing the popular sandwich shop to Boerne, with an opening currently targeted for late September or early October.
William and his wife, Maryjane, have been Firehouse Subs fans for years, and his family has deep roots in the Hill Country. Now, they’re bringing those connections home with a new location right here in Boerne.

MEET THE COUPLE BEHIND AQUA-MAN

Kelly and Lisa Parks have been part of the Boerne community for decades. Kelly grew up here, and the two met at a ranch bonfire in Bandera in 1986.
A year later, Kelly got into the water-treatment business because of a bet during a tennis match. That bet eventually turned into Aqua-Man, which Kelly and Lisa started in 1995 with just $400 and “a lot of good credit.” They bartended at night to pay the bills and put everything they made from water treatment back into the business.
Today, Aqua-Man has grown into a trusted local company serving Boerne and the Hill Country, while Kelly and Lisa still call Boerne home.
And after nearly 40 years together, their approach to business remains pretty simple: “Our customers are our family, friends and neighbors.”
If you’re having hard water problems at your home, give Kelly, Lisa and the Aqua-Man team a call at 830-816-2290 or learn more here.

SPOTTED: A GIANT COWBOY HAT AND A KAYAK ON THE CIBOLO
A man in a giant cowboy hat was spotted kayaking along the Cibolo at River Road Park, and honestly, it’s hard to imagine a more Boerne way to spend the day.
He smiled, waved, and looked like he was having a great time out on the water. Just another unexpected scene that makes Boerne, Boerne.
