Boerne Community Theatre’s Murder Mystery Troupe is bringing Murder at the Cabernet Cabaret to DeVino Cellars on Wednesday, September 30. The evening combines wine, clues, and a little mystery-solving as guests try to figure out whodunit.

The show starts at 7 PM, with limited seating available. Tickets are on sale through Boerne Community Theatre or by calling 830-249-9166.

Pioneers Meats is known for its lunch sandwiches, but breakfast deserves some attention too. Grab a bite and enjoy it from their porch overlooking River Road Park for a laid-back start to the day.

DID YOU KNOW THE NATION’S TOP FOOTBALL PROSPECT IN THE 2029 CLASS IS RIGHT HERE IN BOERNE?

Ryder Flugence is a sophomore quarterback at Boerne Champion who is currently ranked the No. 1 overall recruit in the country for the Class of 2029 by 247Sports.

And he’s already getting plenty of attention from major college programs. Flugence holds 15 offers, including Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Texas Tech.

He’s been showing why on the field, too. Through Champion’s first four games, Flugence threw for 604 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception, helping the Chargers to a 4-0 start.

Dinner Club is back September 29 after bringing 100 locals together across seven Boerne restaurants for a night of good food, new friendships, and plenty of conversation. The experience starts with a quick personality and interests quiz, then you’ll be matched with five other locals and find out your restaurant that morning.

After dinner, everyone heads to the after-party to keep the conversations going. Whether you’re new to town, hoping to meet more people, or simply looking for something different, it’s an easy way to make new connections.

MONKEES NOW OFFERS PRIVATE SUNDAY SHOPPING APPOINTMENTS

Can't make it to Monkee's of Fair Oaks during the week? The boutique is now opening by appointment on Sundays for shoppers who need a little extra flexibility.

The idea came from owner Kelli's own years of business travel and knowing how hard it can be to squeeze shopping into a packed schedule. Sunday appointments can be used for anything from finding one specific piece to spending an hour building out a new wardrobe, with the store opened just for you.

$25 DOG ADOPTIONS THIS WEEKEND

If you've been thinking about adding a four-legged member to the family, this might be the weekend to do it. Boerne Animal Care Services is offering a special $25 adoption fee for all dogs this weekend.

Adoptable pets are examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated against rabies, treated for flea and heartworm prevention, and spayed or neutered. The shelter is open Saturday from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., and you can browse available dogs online before heading over.

SCHREINER UNIVERSITY HOSTING CAREER CONNECTION JOB FAIR

Job seekers can connect with local and regional employers at the Career Connection Job Fair on September 30 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Schreiner University’s CCAC Building.

Hosted in partnership with Workforce Solutions Alamo, the event will feature employers looking to hire, along with resources for resumes, certifications, and career development. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resume. Learn more.

FREE COMMUNITY WORKOUTS AT ANYTIME FITNESS

Anytime Fitness on River Road is inviting the community to join them for a free workout on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. No membership is required, and participants can bring friends and simply show up ready to move.

Valeria has been serving its take on this French classic since opening, and it has become a favorite in the kitchen. Chef Keith starts with 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, serves it over a rich sauce, and pairs it with crispy hand-cut frites.

The frites get an extra touch of care, too. Valeria fries them in avocado oil, adding another detail to a dish built around quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.

The former El Botero Tapas & Wine Bar space at 161 S. Main St. has already been leased, and a new clue suggests another restaurant could be on the way. A TABC notice posted at the location shows Elevate Bistro LLC has applied for a mixed beverage permit.

That could mean a new bistro serving cocktails is coming to the longtime Main Street space, although details have not been announced yet. More digging is underway.

A little piece of TV history can be found right here in Boerne. Ann B. Davis, best known for playing Alice on The Brady Bunch, spent her later years in the San Antonio area before her death in 2014 at age 88.

Her ashes were placed at St. Helena’s Columbarium & Memorial Gardens at 410 N. Main St. The peaceful spot is easy to pass by, but it holds a pretty unique connection to one of television’s most familiar sitcoms.
