👉Girls’ Day Ideas + A New Red Wing + Adler Opens

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, Boerne! Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here, so let’s get you caught up before you start making plans.

Here’s what’s inside today:

  • Plan the perfect girls’ day in Boerne

  • Get the latest on the new Red Wing store

  • Adler opens early

And a whole lot more. Let’s get into it!

— Chris

HONDA OF BOERNE IS ALMOST HERE

Honda of Boerne is building its local team ahead of its planned early fall opening. With construction underway, the new dealership is hiring across several departments, giving local job seekers a chance to get in early with a brand-new location.

The dealership is part of the family-owned Pohanka Automotive Group, which has been in business since 1919, and more opportunities are expected as the opening gets closer.

You don’t have to leave town for a great girls’ day. Boerne has everything from coffee and shopping along the Hill Country Mile to wine, creative activities, outdoor adventures, and plenty of spots for a long lunch or dinner with your favorite people.

Whether it’s a birthday, a catch-up with old friends, or simply an excuse to get out for the day, this guide maps out plenty of ways to make it memorable, including where to shop, eat, sip, stay, and unwind.

Emmitt and Bethany Samarripa, the husband-and-wife team behind Two Birds Outdoor Services, are helping Boerne homeowners with lawn maintenance, garden projects, fertilization, weed control, and more. Their work is detailed, thorough, and the kind of thing that makes a yard look noticeably better afterward.

With everything greening up right now, it’s a good time to get on a regular schedule before summer fully kicks in.

Red Wing has put up temporary “Coming Soon” signs at its new Boerne Town Center location, giving us another look at the growing development. The store will be located at 34702 IH-10 in Suite 103.

The new location is expected to offer Red Wing Shoes, Irish Setter Boots, insoles, leather goods, boot care, fitting services, and repairs. An official opening date hasn’t been announced yet.

Good news for everyone who travels Adler Road! After major flooding in July disrupted construction, crews have been working seven days a week to rebuild damaged sections and replace the culvert at No Name Creek. The road is expected to reopen to two-way traffic today, August 28 at 10 AM.

Smaller projects will continue over the next few weeks, so drivers should still watch for construction crews and equipment in the area. But after weeks of closures and detours, getting Adler Road back open is a pretty big win for local commuters, families, and schools.

Located at 31421 Wild Oak Hill in Fair Oaks Ranch, this 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home offers 3,423 square feet surrounded by mature trees and classic Hill Country charm. Inside, you’ll find a limestone fireplace, updated kitchen, cedar-beamed primary suite, and plenty of character throughout.

Outside, the property really shines with a crystal-clear pool, wine grotto, trophy room, pergola-covered outdoor kitchen, and detached shop. The home is now listed at $899,900 after $99,100 in price improvements, and an open house is happening Sunday, August 30 from 1–4 PM.

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY?

Black Board Bar B Q has some of the best BBQ in the entire Texas Hill Country. Think brisket you can cut with a fork. Ribs that fall off the bone. Delicious sides. And don't even get us started on their Thursday night burgers. Oh, and the burnt ends are to die for.

Find them out at 1123 Sisterdale Rd, open at 11 am all weekend long. Get their early - they sell out often!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Check out this throwback to the Boerne Swimming Pool in the 1960s! Located above Cibolo Creek at the west end of Main Plaza, this spot was a great summer hangout.

Handmade on Main, a local mom-and-pop shop on N. Main Street, may have to close at the end of the year. The shop features handmade gifts, candles, plants, Boerne-themed items, and other finds from local Texas makers.

The owner is hoping more locals will discover the shop and stop in to support it. Located at 347 N. Main St., next to Klein Smokehaus, it could use a little hometown love right now.
