šŸ‘‰What's Happening This Weekend

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, Boerne. This is The Boerne Life, the newsletter that sees a pretty quiet weekend ahead. We recommend you take some time this weekend to try some things you haven’t before, like a visit to the Old Jail Museum or the the Kuhlmann-King Museum.

Okay, let’s take a look a closer look at what’s going on this weekend! šŸ‘‡

WATCH THE FIRST WEEKEND OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL AT 28 SONGS BREWHOUSE šŸˆ

College Football kicks off on Saturday, and our friends at 28 Songs Brewhouse are ready. With a wall of TV’s, award winning burgers, and the most craft beer on tap in town, you couldn’t pick a better spot to watch your favorite team.

So if you’re a college football fan, the first thing to do this weekend is give them a visit and catch a game. And if you’re not… well, you can still give them a visit. 😁

Not enough events for you? No worries! That means it’s time to explore some of the things around town that you haven’t gotten to. A few recommendations:

  • The Cibolo Nature Center - picturesque hiking and views right here in town

  • Try something new to eat - we have so many great options…the fried chicken sandwich at Cibolo Creek Brewing, the ice cream sandwiches at Blythe Creamery, the food trucks behind Free Roam (all great!), the BBQ sandwich at Klein, the pupusas at Casa Amaya… I could go on all day, but maybe look here

  • Check out the art - the sculpture garden in front of Blythe, Texas Treasures Fine Art, the Carriage House Gallery, the sculptures along the walking trail

  • Explore history - there’s history all around us! The City of Boerne even has a free downloadable self-guided historical walking tour

šŸ“ø CAPTION THIS!

Henry, our other pooch, got a haircut from our friends at Traveling Tails Mobile Pet Spa — and we couldn’t stop laughing at this shot. 🤣

If your pup is ready for a glow-up too, give Traveling Tails a call at 210-338-0034 and mention The Boerne Life for $10 off your first groom. šŸ’øāœØ

BOERNE HISTORY

Here’s What the Fountain at Main Plaza Used to Look Like

Check out this old photo we found in "Boerne: Images of America" by Brent Evans (courtesy of Tillie Fass). This is a look at what the fountain at Main Plaza looked like until it had "sprung a leak" and City Council voted to replace it with what we now have.

The image features Dolores Vargas and Nancy Garcia, with the Dienger Building in the background. Crazy how much it’s changed. We love seeing these old shots of Boerne!
