Boerne has made Hallmark Channel’s list of 25 finalists for its 2026 Merriest Christmas Town contest, and it’s the only Texas community in the running. Now, the public can vote once a day through September 4.
The winning town will get the opportunity to serve as a filming location for a Hallmark movie, so this could be a pretty fun way to put Boerne on the holiday movie map.

EXPERIENCE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY WINGSHOOTING THIS FALL
Joshua Creek Ranch, the 2026 Orvis Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge of the Year, is opening its Fall 2026 Open Line Shoots for driven pheasant and mallard duck hunting. With eight dates and 15 shoots from September through December, guests can experience European-style driven shooting across the Texas Hill Country without needing to organize a full group.

After years of backups at Herff Road and River Road, commonly known as Sheep Dip Crossing, a potential solution is finally moving forward. TxDOT has proposed a design that would add two left-turn lanes and a free-flow right turn to help keep traffic moving.
The proposal also includes a shared-use path and pedestrian bridge, but there’s still no construction timeline or cost estimate. It’s an early step, but after being called the county’s “worst intersection,” any progress is worth watching.
The view from the bridge behind the Plaza looks very different after the recent flooding. Seeing the area now is a pretty striking reminder of just how much water moved through Boerne.
It’s wild to see the marks left behind and imagine the amount of water that was flowing through this area.

AND THE ANSWER IS…
Built in 1854, the stone storefront at 334 S Main Street may be the oldest standing building in town. It was once home to Boerne’s very first post office, with German immigrant August Staffel serving as the first postmaster in 1856. Over the years, it also housed a saloon, stagecoach stop, telegraph office, wagon yard, and more.
Today, this historic gem is home to CIELO, a boutique known for its romantic Hill Country aesthetic, handcrafted soaps, and timeless home goods.
From postmasters to perfume, it’s a space that’s been part of Boerne’s story for more than 170 years.
