COULD KENDALL COUNTY HAVE A NEW CITY? đŸ€”

Voters Will Decide On “Constitution City” This Fall

Something interesting might be on the horizon for Kendall County
 an entirely new city. 👀 County commissioners just voted to put it on the November 4 ballot: should the Patriot Academy campus north of Comfort officially become “Constitution City”?

The academy, founded by former Texas state rep Rick Green, is home to over 200 residents on 177.6 acres, including the address of 1776 Patriot Way. Green says the name and mission could draw visitors from across the country to learn about liberty and Texas history.

If voters say yes, Constitution City would have a mayor and two council members, and only people who live inside its boundaries will be able to cast a ballot.

NEW CBD SHOP COMING TO WEST BANDERA STRIP CENTER 🌿

Alamo Botanicals Will Join Smoothie King As First Neighbor in Quite Some Time

A new business is moving into the long-mostly-vacant strip center on West Bandera next to Smoothie King. Alamo Botanicals, which sells CBD and hemp products, will open there soon.

This location will be the third CBD shop to open within about half a mile in Boerne this year. Gruene Botanicals and Boerne Smoke and Vape are right down the road near the corner of W Bandera and S Main.

Fun fact if you didn’t know: this strip center is where Goodwill originally tried to open up a couple years ago.

One of Boerne’s Favorite Donut Shop Is Just Getting A Makeover

We’d noticed Snowflake Donuts had been closed more than usual lately but didn’t think too much of it — until yesterday, when we spotted someone hauling big equipment inside.

Today we swung by and found a sign on the door: “Closed for remodel.” So while we’re bummed they’re not slinging fresh donuts this week, rest easy
 they’re not going anywhere. Looks like they’re just making a few improvements before the maple bars and glazed twists are back.

Buc-ee’s Makes $1 Million Donation To Flood Recovery

Buc-ee’s co-founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin III made a surprise appearance on NBC’s Today Show Aug. 7, handing over a $1 million check to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. The donation — the largest ever given in the show’s “Lend a Hand” segment — will help rebuild homes, support first responders, and assist flood victims across the region. Additional donations from Lowe’s, PepsiCo, YETI, and JC Penney also went to local recovery efforts.

Kendall County Fair Needs Volunteers

The 119th Kendall County Fair is coming Aug. 29–31, and they’re looking for volunteers to help keep this tradition going. Many shifts are in the air-conditioned Sugar Shack or ticket booths, and if you work one shift, you get free entry to the fair all weekend.

They still need help in spots like Friday night wristbands & main ticket booth, Saturday rodeo ticket booth, Sunday wristbands, main ticket booth, and back entry.
