A new optional program is launching this school year at Curington and Fabra Elementary, giving participating students the opportunity to leave campus during part of the school day for Bible instruction through LifeWise Academy.

Parents must opt their children into the program, with participating 1st–5th graders attending on Fridays during their regular CAMP rotation. LifeWise will provide transportation and supervision while students attend lessons at nearby churches.

If you're dropping the kids off this morning and need a little time to decompress, two local spots are giving parents a reason to stick around. The Boerne Bookshop and The Dienger Trading Co. will have mimosas, fellowship, and a chance to catch your breath after the first-day chaos.

Because sometimes the back-to-school routine requires a little adult recovery time, too.

Boerne is going back to Williamsport! The Boerne Little League team defeated Louisiana 4-1 Monday and was declared the Southwest Region champion, earning what appeared to be a spot in the Little League World Series for the second time in just three years.

One unusual wrinkle: late Monday, a judge issued a temporary restraining order involving previously disqualified Tulsa and ordered the originally scheduled regional championship game to be played Tuesday at 6 p.m. As of early Tuesday morning, Little League International had not publicly said how it plans to respond, so there is still a possibility Boerne could be asked to play one more game.

Either way, it’s been an incredible run for these young players, their coaches, and everyone who has supported them along the way. We’ll keep you updated as this very unusual situation develops.
