Two years ago today, Boerne resident Abigail Reder made one of the hardest decisions of her life.

On July 31, 2024, while two months pregnant, she left her marriage for her safety. With only what she could carry.

Today, exactly two years later, she has published her first book.

Joy Follows: Seven Paths Back to Yourself is part memoir and part guided journal, sharing the seven practices that helped Abigail rebuild her life and rediscover herself.

"I wrote it for the woman I was two years ago, and for every woman who is her right now," she told The Boerne Life.

Alongside writing the book, Abigail also founded Rosie Red Nest, a Boerne-based motherhood blog inspired by her daughter, Rosemary. In just a few months, it has grown into a community of nearly 2,000 readers.

Boerne City Lake Reopens Tomorrow

After more than two weeks of flood cleanup, Boerne City Lake Park will reopen on Saturday, August 1. The playground, fishing pier, boat dock, walking trails, and other amenities are ready to welcome visitors back, though guests should use extra caution as lake conditions have changed since the flooding. City Pool Moves to Weekend-Only Schedule for August

If you're planning one more swim before summer ends, keep this in mind: the Boerne City Pool will be open only on weekends throughout August. After the month wraps up, the pool will officially close for the season. Check it out here

Cooper's Kingdom Bringing Mini Golf to Comfort

If you're heading to the Comfort ISD Back-to-School Resource Rally on Saturday, Cooper's Kingdom will be set up! They'll have Cooper's Quest, their portable 9-hole mini golf course, set up for families to enjoy.

The free event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Comfort High School and will also feature food and community resources for Kendall County children and families. It's a fun way to kick off the school year while connecting with local organizations. Learn more

Sisterdale VFD BBQ & Dance Returns August 8

One of the Hill Country's longest-running traditions is back! The 51st Annual Sisterdale Volunteer Fire Department BBQ & Dance returns on Saturday, August 8, with barbecue, live music, raffle prizes, and an evening of community fun.
