Good morning, Boerne. Usually we use the Sunday newsletter to take a look back at the top 10 stories of the week. But as all know, there’s really one main story of this past week - the flooding.

WHERE TO REPORT FLOOD DAMAGE TO THE STATE

If your home, business, or property sustained damage during the July 15 flood event, the State of Texas is asking you to complete the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT).

This voluntary survey is bilingual and helps state and local emergency management officials assess the full extent of damage caused by the flooding and determine the overall impact of the disaster across our community.

THEY GOT WATER IN THE STORE BUT ARE BACK

Our partners at Wild Birds Unlimited of Boerne had some issues with a drainage ditch sending water in the store, but they got it all cleaned up and are back in business!

A LOOK AT THE LAKES AROUND US

As you all know, we’ve been in extreme drought in the Texas Hill Country for quite some time. Lakes have been down across the board. Here’s a quick roundup of the lakes around us now:

• Boerne Lake: Still over capacity as we wait for waters to completely recede. 42 feet would be 100%. Water reached all the way just about to the main entrance, reaching 140%, or nearly 59 feet deep at its peek. For reference, at this time last year, the lake was only at 31 feet 7 inches. Last we heard, Boerne City Lake park will be closed at least through tomorrow.

• Medina Lake: Medina Lake has been nearly completely drained in recent years, even said to have reached dead pool status at between 2-3% capacity. After all the recent rains, it’s just over 26% full, which is pretty wild if you’ve seen it recently. That’s up about 27 feet in one week.

• Canyon Lake: As the water made its way down the Guadalupe, Canyon Lake has also made a dramatic comeback. It’s now 98% full, rising over 19 feet.

A MESSAGE FROM SINGING WATER VINEYARDS

- All livestock is fine and fed
- cats survived, hungry and wet but alive
- Outdoor spaces are fine, furniture is wet but remains where we left it.

- equipment is accounted for
- grapes are still on the vines!
- buildings are secure!

Most importantly, all of our family, staff and neighbors are reporting as safe. Our local children’s camps are also reported safe and all accounted for.

We learned in 2025 what really matters, what can and cannot be replaced in life.

We are going to remain closed for this weekend, restock our fridges, clean off the seating areas, prepare for next weekend with the Texas Eagles on Saturday night, and hug our people real tight.

A COMPLETE FLOOD ROUNDUP FROM THE CITY OF BOERNE

The City of Boerne has published a comprehensive recap of last week's historic flooding, covering everything from emergency rescues and evacuations to damage assessments and the ongoing cleanup effort.

Among the highlights: more than 16 inches of rain fell in parts of Boerne over two days, Cibolo Creek reached its highest level since at least 2015, Boerne Fire responded to 109 calls for service, including 36 water rescues, and thankfully no loss of life or serious injuries were reported within the city. Crews also kept utilities running, avoided the need for a boil water notice, and immediately began cleanup efforts once floodwaters receded.

The recap also explains how city departments, first responders, state agencies, and community partners coordinated throughout the event, plus what's next as parks, trails, and other public spaces continue to recover.

2) Pull out soaked carpet/padding/drywall
3) Check behind baseboards and cabinets — water hides
4) Snap photos before cleanup (for insurance)

This is the best we’ve seen the falls at Big Joshua Creek look in a really long time. It’s located right outside of Boerne on the edge of Comfort on FM 289 next to Joshua Springs Park & Preserve. Note that Joshua Springs Park is currently closed due to flood damage.
