BISD DECIDES TO REPAIR THE WALL

Back in May, Boerne ISD announced that the longtime Boerne High School landmark at Blanco and Esser roads would likely need to be removed due to structural concerns. It’s literally about to fall over.

The news sparked a strong response from the community, with many alumni, students, and residents hoping the historic wall could somehow be saved. The district put out a survey and Boerne made its voice heard.

Today, the district announced it has found a way to preserve it.

Instead of replacing the wall, Boerne ISD will stabilize and repair the existing structure, addressing the safety concerns while maintaining the landmark that has welcomed generations of Greyhounds since 1987.

The district says the repair is expected to cost about $15,000 compared to an estimated $100,000–$125,000 for a full replacement. Once the work is complete, Boerne Greyhounds students will repaint the historic signs, and the district hopes to celebrate the restoration with alumni and current students.

The community’s message was heard. The landmark that so many wanted to preserve will remain part of Boerne High School’s story. Good job, y’all.
