NEW WINERY ON MAIN GETS APPROVAL TO MOVE FORWARD 🍷

Here’s a Look at the Approved Design

The Historic Landmark Commission approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for Hill & Bach Cellars at 265 North Main Street in Boerne. Here's what’s happening:

✅ Demolition of a small, non-historic rear addition
✅ Construction of a new, larger addition at the rear of the main structure
✅ Three new decks (some covered, some uncovered)
✅ New or replaced historically appropriate two-over-two windows
✅ Residing and painting of the accessory structures and new addition
✅ A new outdoor fireplace
✅ Installation of a limestone and iron fence along the front property line
✅ Color palette

The project preserves the original facade of the historic 1870s building, matches new work to historic materials, and enhances the site for its new use as Hill & Bach Cellars, a winery and gathering space.

Work should begin shortly, with a projected finish date of December of this year, according to TDLR filings.

WE HAVE A SUGAR PROBLEM

And Nature’s Presence Is Here to Help

Our friends at Nature's Presence can help us limit the damage when we give in to our sugar urges.

See, we talk a lot about their supplements and their grass fed and finished beef. But something else they have under the radar? Organic candy with no artificial flavors, dyes, etc. And these Giggles are amazing!

And check this out: we gave our kids a blind taste test. And they all chose Giggles over Skittles. I was legitimately surprised.

So do yourself a favor - go to Nature's Presence, ask for their Giggles and buy them all. (They have other healthier dessert items too).

THE GIANT ROCKER HAS MOVED

And the Destination Makes Sense to Us

Earlier this week, we had the unfortunate task of reporting that The Rocker Taqueria & Bakery on North Main had abruptly shut down over the weekend. One of the lingering questions was, what would happen to the giant rocking chair that has become a fixture of Boerne?

We got the answer quicker than we thought!

Yesterday, the giant ornament was moved to Boerne Backyard at 31007 I-10. Which honestly, makes perfect sense! If you don’t already know, Boerne Backyard is a local store that specializes in outdoor furnishings, grills, and smokers. So what better place to have a giant rocking chair out front?!

SPROCKET GOT A SPA DAY 🐕🫧

Our good boy Sprocket had the full luxury treatment thanks to Traveling Tails Mobile Pet Spa! They pulled right up to the curb and pampered him in their fully-equipped grooming van.

Sprocket is a Great Pyrenees/Poodle mix, and with that wild hair, he needed the works — and he loved it. Our smaller dog, Henry, not so much. But that’s a story for another newsletter lol!

If your pup deserves the royal treatment too, Traveling Tails covers Boerne, San Antonio, New Braunfels, and the surrounding areas. Give them a call at 210-338-0034 and mention The Boerne Life for $10 off!

WEATHER FORECAST

Powered by Mr. Electric

While we don’t think it will happen today, you never know when another Texas Hill Country thunderstorm will come out of nowhere when the power flickers or cuts out completely, those sudden returns can send dangerous jolts through your home’s electrical system. That could mean fried appliances, damaged electronics, or worse.

Our partners at Mr. Electric of Boerne can help you prepare before the storm hits. They install whole-home surge protectors, offer outlet-level protection, and even provide free home safety checks during the visit.

Das GreenHaus, Boerne’s premier entrepreneurial resource center, has officially named Samantha Morganroth as its new Program Manager. Samantha, who joined the team in 2024, has already played a crucial role in shaping the programs and services that support local startups and small businesses.

“I’m really excited to step into the Program Manager role at Das GreenHaus!” Samantha told us. “For me, building relationships and working alongside our members as they turn their ideas into successful businesses is what makes this work so rewarding. I look forward to continuing this journey, supporting even more startups as they take off, and partnering with the broader Kendall County community to make it all happen!”

Samantha brings a background in program development and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local entrepreneurs. She’s joined by Melody Mabry Touchon, who will support daily operations, marketing, events, and more.
