HIDDEN WELL DISCOVERED BEHIND OLD COUNTY JAIL

A Cool Scoop from Our Friends at Boerne Radio 103.9 FM

If you’ve driven down Blanco near the old Kendall County Jail lately, you might have noticed some barricades behind the building. They’re marking off a stretch of freshly buried power lines that now connect the IT building to the generator next to the old county courthouse.

But while crews were digging the trench, they made an unexpected discovery — an old well.

Boerne’s Special Projects Director, Paul Barwick, confirmed the find and said there’s been some early talk about preserving it. Ideas include encapsulating it, dropping in a light, and building it up — similar to the lit well display you’ll see inside Free Roam Brewing Company (have you seen it?)

More to come as plans develop, but it’s another reminder that Boerne’s past is often buried just beneath our feet.

Boerne ISD Receives $319K Career Training Grant

Boerne Independent School District has been awarded $319,709 in career training grants as part of Governor Greg Abbott’s initiative to support high-demand careers like nursing. This funding will be used to train 200 Boerne students as registered nurses in partnership with San Antonio College.

This is an incredible opportunity for Boerne students to gain the skills necessary for successful careers in healthcare, and it’s a huge win for our local community!
