BOERNE BEHIND THE SCENES 👀

Why Tonight’s Planning and Zoning Meeting Is of Special Interest

Today’s Planning & Zoning Commission meeting will include public discussion about a proposed Starbucks on Herff Road — specifically, whether it should be allowed to include a drive-thru.

Some residents are raising concerns over the traffic this could add to an already busy corridor, especially with nearby schools and neighborhoods. Others point to the growing number of local coffee shops in the area and question whether we need another national chain.

The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit, which is required in this zoning district. This means it’s up to the Commission and City Council to approve or deny the drive-thru based on community input and city planning criteria.

🗓️ Meeting is at 6 pm, May 5 at Boerne City Hall.
🎥 Can’t attend? The meeting will be streamed and recorded.

It’s a great chance to see how Boerne decisions are made — and to weigh in if you feel strongly.

WEATHER FORECAST

Looks like we could be blessed with a bit more rain to start the week. And don’t forget - rain is an opportunity to capture water! A single inch of rain on a 1,000 sq ft roof can yield 600 gallons of water. That adds up fast — and with the right setup, you can save all that water for future use. And our partners at Hammer Next Level Excavation can help!

Hammer is a family-run, firefighter-owned Boerne business specializing in rainwater capture systems, storage tanks, trenching, and more. Plus, the City of Boerne offers a $150 rebate for installing a system. Ready to catch the rain? 📞 Call 210-846-4135 or visit hnlexcavation.com

Monday: High: 67º | Low: 62º | 50% chance of precipitation

Tuesday: High: 82º | Low: 58º | 45% chance of precipitation

Burn Ban: Off

Water Restrictions: Stage 2
