WAYBACK WEDNESDAY

DID YOU KNOW? Boerne has a rich baseball history. This is the oldest known photo of the Boerne White Sox, taken in 1912. However, it's thought that baseball started in Boerne around 1900.

People remember baseball being played in various locations throughout town. One was Saunders and James Street close to the Methodist Church, and one behind the BISD admin building where the old Fabra playground was. This would be around where the retention pond is now (basically across the street from Compadres).

White Sox league games were played at the "Ice Plant Field" off Plant Street and then at the Kendall County Fairgrounds.
