Boerne is adding another way to save water and money. Announced at the City Hall meeting this week, residents will be able to get a $150 credit on their water bill for replacing at least 200 square feet of turf grass with native, drought-tolerant landscaping.
You have to take before and after pictures of the entire job.
This is part of the city’s growing rebate program that already includes:
– $150 for installing a rain harvesting system
– $150 for completing a sprinkler system consultation

🌚 SMILEY FACE IN THE SKY TOMORROW MORNING
A Rare Celestial Moment You’ll Want to Wake up Early for
Set your alarm and look east — because the sky is about to smile back.
Just before dawn on Friday, April 25, a rare triple conjunction between Venus, Saturn, and the crescent moon will create a “smiley face” in the early morning sky. Around 5:30 am, Venus and Saturn will form the “eyes,” while the moon will create a delicate grin just below.
You won’t need a telescope to see it, but a pair of binoculars will bring even more of the moon’s features into view. The smile will only last about an hour before fading into the sunrise, so plan to find a good eastern horizon in advance.
And if you’re lucky, you might even catch the tail end of the Lyrid meteor shower, which peaks just a few days earlier.
📍 Visible from anywhere with a clear view of the eastern sky
⏰ Around 5:30 am on Friday, April 25
🔭 No telescope needed — just look up and enjoy… assuming it’s not too cloudy!

Keep pets up to date on vaccinations

Secure trash to prevent wildlife scavenging
Supervise children and pets outdoors
Report unusual animal behavior immediately

DID YOU KNOW?
Boerne was originally named "Tusculum" by a group of German colonists camping on the North side of the Cibolo in 1849. But in 1852, it was renamed to honor German author Ludwig Börne, who never actually stepped foot in Boerne.

WEATHER FORECAST
Real quick, let’s talk about thunderstorms in the forecast… when the power flickers or cuts out completely, those sudden returns can send dangerous jolts through your home’s electrical system. That could mean fried appliances, damaged electronics, or worse.
Our partners at Mr. Electric of Boerne can help you prepare before the storm hits. They install whole-home surge protectors, offer outlet-level protection, and even provide free home safety checks during the visit.
