STAY INFORMED AFTER A POSITIVE MEASLES CASE IS REPORTED IN BOERNE

On February 12, 2026, the City of Boerne was notified of a positive measles case. State officials believe the case is isolated and tied to exposure in Bandera County connected to out-of-state travel. The Texas Department of State Health Services is working with local emergency management and healthcare providers to conduct proper notification and contact tracing.

Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious complications, particularly in young children and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, white spots inside the mouth, and a rash that typically begins on the face before spreading. Vaccination with the MMR or MMRV vaccine remains the most effective prevention method, with two doses offering 97 percent effectiveness.
