AND THE ANSWER IS… 🄁

England! Dr. W.G. Kingsbury played a major role in shaping early Boerne by attracting English immigrants to the area. A writer, speaker, and signer of the 1859 petition to form Kendall County, he also worked to bring the railroad to town. After purchasing land along Menger Creek in 1853, he helped prepare new settlers for frontier life by teaching them how to build homes and walls using local limestone. The English immigrants he recruited introduced new sports like cricket and polo to Boerne. Kingsbury, a Mexican War veteran, died in 1896 and is buried in Boerne Cemetery.
