If you’ve noticed a fenced-off area behind the Old Jail Museum and the original Kendall County Courthouse, there’s a good reason. While work was being done on the grounds, crews unexpectedly uncovered a very old hand-dug well beneath the surface.
The long-term goal is to raise funds to restore the well and turn it into a small historical site that helps tell Boerne’s early story. More details are expected as plans come together, but for now, it’s a fascinating reminder of just how much history still lies beneath downtown.
