IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, Boerne. This is The Boerne Life, the newsletter that loves Thanksgiving week almost as much as Christmas week. Here’s what’s going on 👇

As tempting as it is to tidy up the yard this season, nature says “not so fast!” New research shows that removing or shredding fallen leaves wipes out crucial insect habitats, cutting moths by 45%, spiders by 56%, and butterflies and moth diversity by nearly half.
Those leaves are home to countless overwintering insects, and many of our favorite backyard birds depend on those same bugs for food. So this fall, consider skipping the rake (at least in part of your yard) and let nature do its thing.
This eco-friendly reminder comes from our friends at Wild Birds Unlimited Boerne, the Hill Country’s newest nature shop tucked back next to 28 Songs. Stop by for expert birding advice, the best feeders and seed, and plenty of backyard inspiration.
