Boerne’s polo roots run deep in Boerne — dating all the way back to 1876, when local cowboys and English officers played America’s very first match (there’s the answer to yesterday’s trivia question!). Now, the sport is returning in grand fashion at the Spanish Pass Polo Club’s first-ever Arena Polo Tournament, happening November 1–2.

The event honors legendary player Cecil Smith, the “Babe Ruth of Polo,” with exciting three-on-three arena matches, local food trucks, and free admission for all. Expect thundering hooves, Hill Country views, and a weekend full of energy and tradition.

CITY APPROVES UPDATED BUC-EE’S AGREEMENT 🦫

Boerne City Council has unanimously approved an amended development agreement with Buc-ee’s for the new store planned near South Main and I-10.

The revised deal reduces the store size to 54,000 square feet, limits fueling stations to 100, and lowers the sign height to 60 feet. Buc-ee’s will also dedicate nine acres as open space and add landscaping, fencing, and 26 EV chargers.

The store will not include a car wash and will create around 200 jobs once open. City leaders praised the changes as a major improvement shaped by community feedback.
