October means fall will really start to set in here in Boerne. The mornings are cooling off and hopefully the afternoons and evenings will soon follow. And that means we’ll all be looking for reasons to get outside and enjoy the weather.
This month brings everything from pumpkin patches and concerts to markets, fundraisers, and plenty of fall festivals. Here are some of the biggest events to mark on your calendar.

Boerne’s Best Kept Dining Secret

Even though it’s been here for years, most people don’t know that this upscale restaurant exists in Boerne, because it’s tucked back out of view off South Main. It’s located at the very end of the complex that also houses our friends at Michoacán A Pedir De Boca (another hidden gem).
So what can you expect when you visit Valeria? You’ll get a world-class dining experience with dishes like Linguine with Maine Lobster Diavalo, BAJA Flounder with Thai Curry Sauce (Gluten-Free!), Rohan Duck leg Confit, Pumpkin Soup, and more. All available with expertly paired wine selections and craft cocktails.
This is your chance to try something fresh and exciting. So give them a visit and tell Chef Keith that The Boerne Life sent you to uncover this hidden gem.
Side note, we plan on going this weekend, so maybe you’ll see us there. 😀
📍109 Waterview Pkwy STE 105
🕑 Monday - Saturday, 4PM-9PM, cocktail lounge open until 11PM with limited food menu

What kind of goodies can you expect? There are freebies and discounts for Bakery Lorraine, Black Rifle, Blithe Creamery, Cibolo Brewing, Old Jail Museum, The Dienger, and more!
So stop by, grab a treat, and tell them you saw it on The Boerne Life! ❤️

THE BOERNE BUZZ
Don’t Forget: The Boerne Book Festival Is This Weekend*
The Boerne Book Festival returns October 4th, and this year it’s moving from Main Plaza back to the Patrick Heath Public Library.
The shift means author talks and workshops can be held inside the library, while vendors and activities fill the outdoor space behind it — making for an improved experience (and better parking, too). The day will feature panels, book signings, and special guests including Bryan Burrough, Norma Cantú, Stephen Harrigan, Kazu Kibuishi, and more.
You can learn more here.
Walk the Mile for Domestic Violence Awareness
This Saturday, October 4, the community will gather on the Kendall County Courthouse steps at 8:30 am for Walk The Mile, raising awareness for survivors of domestic violence. Sheriff Al Auxier will open the event with prayer, followed by remarks from District Attorney Nicole Bishop, Judge Shane Stolarczyk, and Boerne Police Chief Steve Perez.
Afterward, participants dressed in purple will walk together up and down the Hill Country Mile. The event is free to attend and supported by Hill Country Family Services, Transformation House, the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, and the DA’s Victim Services Division. Learn more here.
Halloween Cocktail Workshops
On October 30, Assemble Cocktail Workshop is hosting a spooky sip session where guests will handcraft two festive drinks — The Phantom’s Fizz and the Witching Hour Elixir. Non-alcoholic spirit alternatives will be available, so everyone can take part in the fun.

DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE A MODEL AIRCRAFT FLYING FIELD IN KENDALL COUNTY? ✈️

We also have a Boerne Area Model Society, a flying club that's been around for about 30 years.
The flying field is located out at Joshua Springs Park & Preserve, tucked in the hills. We visited today and met Charlie Rose, who has been flying remote controlled planes since the '80s.
He told us that next weekend on the 4th, they'll be holding their 11th Annual Fall Fun Fly next weekend on October 4th. Family, friends, and the public are welcome to attend, with raffles, a silent auction, and free buddy box and U-Control flights with instructors available.
