👉Winter Weather Warning Weekend

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Good morning, Boerne. This weekend is a little different. As you’ve probably heard, we’re under a winter storm warning. We know of at least a few things that have been canceled or postponed. So unlike your normal Friday newsletter, this will be a bit less event focused. 😀

— Chris

If this winter weather has you daydreaming about somewhere warmer, this might be your sign. The Boerne Life is excited to welcome Royce Staley of Cruise Planners as a new partner, helping locals turn “one day” trips into real plans.

From tropical getaways and cruises to European adventures and all-inclusive resorts, Royce handles the details, watches pricing, and often unlocks perks you won’t find booking on your own, all at no extra cost.

If a warm escape sounds better than freezing temps, this is a great place to start.

With an Arctic cold front expected to move into the Boerne area this weekend, the City of Boerne has published a dedicated Winter Weather Updates page that will serve as the official hub for local information.

The city is preparing for potentially icy conditions, dangerous wind chills, and temperatures staying at or below freezing for up to 48 hours. Crews are pre-treating roads, utilities have been winterized, and barricades are ready if bridges or roadways need to close. The library is also expected to be open as a warming center if conditions worsen.

This page will be updated with road closures, utility impacts, trash and recycling changes (if needed), and emergency alerts as the forecast develops.

It’s a smart one to bookmark now, before the weather hits.

THE LIBRARY TO OFFER COLD WEATHER ASSISTANCE THIS WEEKEND đŸ§„

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?

We hesitate to tell you about any events because it’s hard to say what will be canceled. Last we heard, most Friday events will still be happening, but seems like a lot of the Saturday stuff is getting cancelled. You can see weekend events here, but I would call to confirm anything you’re wanting to go to!

Handmade on Main will celebrate its 6th anniversary with a customer appreciation party featuring an Ornament Smash prize event. This celebration will take place today January 24 from 11 am to 6 pm, offering shoppers a fun way to mark the milestone while earning surprises with their purchases.

In-store, guests will get to choose an ornament to smash for every $50 spent, with each smash revealing a prize. Online shoppers can also participate, with Handmade on Main smashing an ornament on their behalf for every $50 spent, and prizes available to be shipped, delivered locally, or picked up later along with the order.

This was supposed to happen Saturday, but it’s moved to today due to the winter storm.

OPEN LINE DRIVEN SHOOT CANCELED THIS WEEKEND

With the impending weather, Joshua Creek Ranch has made the difficult decision to cancel their scheduled weekend shoot. However, we will have their newly updated schedule for you. In the meantime, have you made your reservations yet for Valentine’s Day?

SCHOOL IS STILL ON TODAY, BUT BOERNE ISD WEEKEND EVENTS ARE CANCELLED

We received the following from BISD:

Boerne ISD is closely monitoring the winter weather. We are in communication with the National Weather Service, the Texas Department of Emergency Management, and Region 20 area school districts to make the best decisions for our community.

Safety is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and to reduce travel on our roads, district and campus events for Saturday and Sunday have been canceled or rescheduled. Coaches and sponsors will be in contact with families regarding scheduling updates.

District officials will be actively monitoring weather over the weekend. We are collaborating with city and county officials and will provide another update on Sunday afternoon.

Friendly reminder: Tomorrow, Friday, January 23 is regular school day.
