DID YOU SMELL GAS YESTERDAY?

If you noticed a strong gas smell around Boerne yesterday, you're not alone. The City of Boerne confirmed it was due to a routine gas line cleanout by West Texas Gas in Leon Valley. Strong south winds carried the odorant (the chemical added to gas for safety) into our area.

âś… No leak
âś… No emergency
🏠 If you’re sensitive to smells, heading indoors was the right move.

That said, if you ever have concerns about your home’s gas lines, Olde Town Plumbing is our trusted local partner for inspections, repairs, and installations. Licensed, reliable, and right here in Boerne.

103-YEAR-OLD WWII VETERAN HONORED IN BOERNE

Pedro Vera Awarded High Distinction for Role in Liberating Europe

Boerne’s Veterans Plaza was the site of a powerful moment yesterday as 103-year-old Pedro Vera, a World War II Army veteran, received the French Legion of Honor for his role in liberating France during the war.

Vera served as an ambulance driver on D-Day at Normandy and throughout Europe’s toughest battles. His message today is simple but profound: “War is ugly… I hope there are no more wars.”

NEW PARTNER SPOTLIGHT 🍷

Comfort’s Hidden Gem, Now a Boerne Life Partner

We’re excited to welcome Singing Water Vineyards as one of our newest partners! This family-friendly winery in Comfort has long been a Hill Country favorite (and one of our favorites). They have live music every weekend, delicious food, a relaxed outdoor setting, and plenty of space for the kids to play (plus goats!).

You might remember that earlier this year, their cabernet sauvignon made headlines for winning Best in the Nation, beating out California for the first time ever. If you haven’t been yet, now’s the time to go experience it for yourself.

Just wait until you drive up to see this beautiful property surrounded by hills with vines growing out front and creek running behind it. You really have to see it to believe it!

THROWBACK THURSDAY

Did You Know Someone in Boerne Won $20 Million a Couple Years Ago?

Back in 2023, a Boerne resident quietly became $20 million richer after hitting the top prize in the Texas Lottery’s $20 Million Supreme scratch-off game. The winning ticket was purchased at M and M Food Mart on E. Blanco Road — talk about a lucky stop!

The winner chose to remain anonymous, but their big win remains a fun piece of recent Boerne history. That prize was only the second of four top jackpots claimed in the game.
